EDUCATION HILL

OVERVIEW

Education Hill sits just north of downtown Redmond and is one of the city's largest residential neighborhoods. The hill itself gives it a clear identity, and its name comes from the cluster of public schools within its boundaries, including Redmond High School, Redmond Middle School, Horace Mann Elementary, Norman Rockwell Elementary, and Albert Einstein Elementary. Longtime locals may remember its older nickname, Poverty Hill.

The heart of the neighborhood is Hartman Park, a 40-acre city park with the Redmond Pool, turf sports fields, a baseball field, tennis and pickleball courts, and wooded trails. Nike Park, once part of a Cold War Nike missile base, now has trails that connect toward Hartman Park, the Redmond Pool, the Redmond Bike Park, and Redmond High School. Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park, with its horse arena and barnyard animals, is a short drive east.

Much of Education Hill was built out in the 1970s through the 1990s, so you'll see plenty of bi-level and split-level homes along tree-lined streets, mixed with newer and larger homes. Some streets have Cascade views on clear days, and downtown Redmond is right at the bottom of the hill.
