OVERVIEW
Downtown Redmond is the city's walkable core and one of its two urban centers. Over the past decade it has been transformed: Redmond Way and Cleveland Street were converted to two-way streets, more than 20 new restaurants opened, and the Redmond Central Connector trail now runs through downtown into Downtown Park.
Downtown Park is the neighborhood's backyard, with a signature art pavilion at its center. Every December it lights up for Redmond Lights, the city's celebration of art and light (the 2026 kick-off is Saturday, December 5). Each July, Derby Days, a festival that began as a bike derby and parade in 1940, brings live music, carnival rides, and bike races to the city's municipal campus. Redmond Town Center adds shopping, dining, and the Sama Cellars wine lounge, and the Sammamish River Trail runs along the edge of downtown.
The Downtown Redmond light rail station opened in May 2025, with trains to Bellevue and, since March 2026, across the lake to Seattle. Most homes here are condos, apartments, and townhomes, which is why downtown's median price runs lower than the rest of Redmond.
